The Cranium series of board games are the perfect example of an educational game that helps children learn while laughing.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the game Cranium that combines several games - including charades, trivia, pictionary and more - into one fun and challenging board game. Cranium Cadoo for Kids has all the same features while being focused toward the younger children.

Even the simplest of board games can be educational for children. The preschooler learns to count the spaces on Chutes and Ladders or even a quick game of Dora the Explorer. Games with spinners rather than dice also encourage number recognition. And another ‘oldie but goodie’, Hi-Ho Cherry-Oh, requires counting the cherries in and out of the basket. I’m sure you can think of many more children’s games that are educational even though they aren’t marketed as such.

Along with educational toys at the top of my list are games and toys that involve activity. One day last year I recalled the game of “Twister” and added it to my mental list of ‘things to watch for at yard sales’ since there was no hurry in getting it.
